The San Antonio Water System (SAWS) has implemented
a program to achieve compliance with the Texas
Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Chapter 213 rule by July 31, 2005.
The rule was promulgated to protect the drinking water provided from the Edwards
Aquifer. It requires the inspection of the collection system every 5 years and
the repair of any defects that could potentially leach wastewater into the Aquifer.
RJN Group, Inc. has been retained to provide the inspection and design services
for approximately 300,000 linear feet of sewer and 1000 manholes. To meet the
compliance deadline, RJN completed 315,000 feet of televised inspection and inspection
of 1080 manholes by the summer of 2003. Design of the project consisted of several
bid packages to ensure active participation by the construction contracting community
and quick completion of the project. The projects are broken down as follows:
Additional work is being performed as work
orders using cured in place pipe (CIPP). These are being released as appropriate
to contractors with term contracts established with SAWS for the particular expertise.
Maps of the construction contracts with additional information are located in
the construction link on the left menu.
You may contact RJN Group, Inc., with any comments or questions
that may arise during this study.
